Thota Vaikuntam
Thota Vaikuntam was born in 1942 in Boorugupalli, Andhra Pradesh, and is known for his rural subjects, especially the women of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
He trained at the College of Fine Arts and Architecture in Hyderabad (1970) and at Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda (1972). He has exhibited regularly since his first solo show at Kala Bhavan, Hyderabad, in 1973, with group shows in India, Singapore, New York and Dubai.
He received the Biennale Award from Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal (1988–89) and the National Award for Painting (1993). He lives and works in Hyderabad.
