Gogi Saroj Pal
Gogi Saroj Pal was born in 1945 in Neoli, Uttar Pradesh, and studied at the College of Art in Vanasthali, Rajasthan, and the College of Art in Lucknow. She worked across many media, including installation, painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, jewellery, weaving and photography.
Her work grew out of a search for cultural identity and engaged with the concerns of her time. Her paintings reflect society, especially the unequal relationships between men and women and the difficult stages of a woman's life, and use symbols and icons that help preserve cultural continuity.
She lived and worked in Delhi and passed away on 27 January 2024.
