Manish Pushkale
Manish Pushkale was born in Bhopal in 1973. He trained as a geologist before studying art at the Art College in Bhopal, where he earned a Master's degree.
His art is tied to mythology without openly referencing it. Muted colours give his works a calm mood, while motifs and symbols reward closer viewing, and subtle brushwork and shading build layered meanings.
His solo shows include Serendipitous Encounters (Aicon, Palo Alto, 2009), Unveiling (Bodhi Art, Mumbai, 2007) and Japa (Bodhi Art, New Delhi, 2006), and he has taken part in group exhibitions in India and abroad. He received the S.H. Raza Foundation Award in 2003 and lives and works in Delhi.
